SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. 50 Litrai or Dekadrachm (Gold, 16 mm, 4.28 g, 8 h), circa 317-310. Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. ΣYPA-K-OΣIΩN Charioteer driving fast biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and kentron in his right; below, triskeles running right. Bérend, Agathocle, pl. 9, 1 var. (triskeles running left). Dewing 935. SNG ANS 551. SNG Copenhagen 746-747. Rare with triskeles running to right. A lovely coin with a splendid reverse. Light die rust on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
